Week 1 - Objective Value, Dvorak, and Orientation Vectors
Today concludes my first week as a Shaftesbury Fellow! We enjoyed a hearty welcome, with a wide array of both academic and cultural introductory activities. On our first official day of the program, we were introduced to the staff at First Liberty Institute and we went through all of the typical on-boarding procedures for a summer program. Part of that on-boarding process included learning more about the namesake of our program, Anthony Ashley Cooper, the seventh Earl of Shaftesbury. We had the pleasure of hearing from Dr. Richard Turnbull, the leading Shaftesbury expert, on the topic. Because this is a post on Week 1 and not a post on Shaftesbury, I will refrain from discussing our namesake until a later date.
